I like my Glocks. So do a lot of other people.
I would venture to say that a lot of our nation’s police departments use a 9mm Glock.
A wide receiver, Plaxico Burress has played for the Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Giants football teams. He loves his Glock, although he should have taken a safety course on how to carry one and also get a CCW license.
Even Representative Gabrielle Giffords who survived an assassination attempt a week ago was quoted as saying “I have a Glock 9mm, and I’m a pretty good shot.”
Jared Loughner used a 9mm Glock to kill people in Tucson, Arizona last Saturday, January, 8, 2011.
The Glock is just a firearm of choice – for just about everyone.
I have owned several Glock pistols. My personal favorite is a Glock 21 with a momentary contact laser system installed in the frame. It’s perfect for self-defense in the home when loaded with 100% green subsonic frangible bullets.
By the way, the frangible bullets cause a large amount of damage for stopping threats, pose less of a wall penetration risk and are 100% environmentally friendly.
I passed my tactical pistol course wearing a Glock 27. This is a sweet little 9-shot subcompact pistol that handles extremely well. So well, I even put two shots into the kidnapper’s right eye while he was hiding behind a hostage. The accuracy surprised me.
For longer range work, my Glock 17 in 9mm is a real workhorse. Yes, I still have many of the original standard 17-round magazines (don’t call them a clip!!!). I shot a long-range course with it and found it to be more accurate that the Glock 21 .45 cal at those ranges of 60 to 100 feet.
Yes, I admit to owning several of the 30+ round magazines and have used them for fun on a friend’s ranch shooting up a few hundred clays stood up edgewise on the ground.
The big drawback to that really large capacity magazine was that it got in the way when I tried to prop the pistol against a tree or rock for a more accurate shot.
After emptying that magazine, I put it away and pulled out a handful of the 17-round ones.
I found out I was much more accurate in using the standard mags. I could fire 85 rounds effortlessly with minimal pause between changing magazines.
The secret of that is too work the magazines with some sand paper, blow them off and use a little dry lubricant; the empty one drops out effortlessly and the new one slides in nice for the next shot.
NOTE: I do not recommend that you do this, as you can possibly damage the magazine. Have a Glock-certified gunsmith perform any work like this for you.
You might say I love my Glocks, but I would not wear a bright red thong and pose with them like Jarad Loughner did.

At Comicon 09 the prop was in a corner of the Mattel booth and it was great to finally get some pictures of her.
Yes, I handled one today. The piuctre above is accurate. The mag release is much better, but it is NOT ambi nor reversible. The recoil spring is a double spring unit, much like a G27 unit on steroids. The grip texture is a less dense RTF pattern in a hard format instead of tacky. This is actually an improvement over the existing slippery grip. The long-awaited backstraps are disappointing, to say the least. The standard grip does not seen to be meaningfully reduced nor the angle altered nor the hump on the bottom of the grip eliminated in any way. The two supplied backstraps snap OVER the existing backstrap to make it BIGGER. In order to do that, the trigger housing pin must be removed and replaced with a supplied longer one. Forget to do that and your pistol might fail to fire or worse. Odd design feature. Moreover, the fit is poor and the extra-big backstraps form a thin shelf right at the web of the shooting hand.I will leave the comparison of this Gen4 (the slide is so stamped) with the existing competitive pistols to others.
